E.F.I. computer diagnosis
There are several components other than the computer in this system that can cause problems. It is a good idea to check out the entire system before ordering a computer.
One problem in particular is the power lead to the rear fuel pumps. If this lead is shorted, it can damage the computer.
The case must be grounded by bolting it into the car. A bad ground can damage the computer.
The speed sensor in the distributor can cause a no code driveability problem.
A bad ignition module can also cause a no code driveability problem.
The temperature sensors that mount into the intake manifold can also cause a problem.
It is best to check for these type of problems. We don't want our computers to get damaged by being used for diagnosis purposes, when the problem was something else.
